No matter who you are in this world, you’re going to set out to accomplish something and fail, and that’s OKAY! Failing is sometimes the best teacher. Mike Tyson was on and old episode of Oprah talking about his personal life, and told Oprah that he was sick of failing. One of the BEST fighters in the world, who made millions of dollars, said he was sick of FAILING. So, with this blog, I wanted to express the importance of just TRYING and putting in your all no matter how hard something may be or what obstacles may be blocking you. If you don’t try, you’ll never know…. So go out there and TRY, knowing that you MIGHT fail, but knowing that the outcome could teach a life long lesson, which is simply priceless!

I just watched an old episode of Oprah where her guest was Phil Knight, Co-Founder and CEO of Nike. What an inspiration this man is. Mr. Knight started selling running shoes out of the trunk of his car when he was a part of his track team in college. He was passionate to help runners, including himself, maintain their competitive edge. Once his "trunk" sales started booming, he then started his own sports store, which, in turn led to the Nike empire we know today. Phil Knight followed his passion and look where it led him!
It’s people like him that remind us how important it is to follow your passion and love what you do in life. Now, I know that certain realities may prevent us from doing what we love at certain points in our life, but it’s just a quick reminder to all of us to stay the course and follow our dreams because when you love what you do, you just never know what great things lie ahead! With failure comes success and with success may sometimes come failure, but if we are always too afraid to reach greatness, then we will always get the same results over and over again. And what fun is that? Life isn’t a bowl of cherries, as most of us know, but we have just as much to learn from the pitfalls and triumphs, as we do from the successes and accomplishments. Often times, we learn more from the obstacles and become better individuals for having conquered those challenges. Think of it this way, those who choose to climb Mt. Everest know it won’t be easy, but they do it anyways!
If life was always safe and monotonous, this world would have no excitement and we’d be living in a mundane complacent society. People would never strive for greatness and the blah, underachiever attitude would be the norm. Sound exciting? I didn’t think so… So do me this favor, pick one tiny goal and start the climb. Pick one thing you want to change, do better, achieve. Stop beating yourself up for what you could have done, could have been, could have changed. There is no better time than now to move ahead in a positive direction. And what an accomplishment to know you have climbed mountains, achieving success and overcoming failure, than to never have attempted the climb at all. |
